Finished Size: Fits head size up to 19” (21”, 23”).
Materials: Plain unfelted knit hats can be made from any worsted weight yarn that will knit to the gauge given below. Felt hats require a worsted or DK weight wool that will felt easily.
2-Color Knit Hat: 250 (270, 300) yds MC and 50 (60, 70) yds of CC.
4-Color Knit Hat: 85 (90, 100) yds each of 3 crown colors and 50 (60, 70) yds of band color.
2-Color Felt Hat: 275 (300, 330) yds MC and 50 (60, 70) yds of CC.
4-Color Felt Hat: 93 (100, 110) yds each of 3 crown colors and 50 (60, 70) yds of band color.
Gauge: 
19 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette stitch, 14 stitches = 4" before felting for felted hat
Needles: Change needle size as needed to obtain proper gauge.
2-Color Plain Kit Hat: 16" (40 cm) circular in sizes 6 & 7 (4 & 4.5 mm).
4-CoIor Plain Knit Hat: 16" circulars size 6 (4 mm) and straight or circular size 7 (4.5 mm).
2-Color or 4-Color Felt Hats: 24" (80 cm) circular, size 10 (6 mm).
For band added after felting, a 16" (40 cm) size 6 (4 mm) needle.
