Himalaya Yarn started in 1996 while working with a Tibetan family in Nepal. They brought Recycled Silk yarn to the attention of hand knitters in North America. Since then, a cottage industry has expanded to include a variety of quality yarns made of silk, wool and plant based fibers.
Their mission is to bring unusual yarns to hand knitters while helping to employ people in Nepal.
Himalaya Yarns are made using the least amount of technology possible. Many are hand spun and/or hand dyed. We value the work of human hands; people, not machines, do the work resulting in yarns that are as unique and varied as each individual who makes them.
